Selena Gomez is officially back on social media.
The 24-year-old singer posted on Instagram on Thanksgiving Day for the first time in close to three months. She used the post to express her gratitude to her fans for their support. The message was accompanied with a black-and-white image of her together with fans.
She appeared in public for the first time in months to attend the American Music Awards on Sunday before posting on Instagram four days later. She bagged the Best Female award in the Pop/Rock category.
Selena has been undergoing treatment in rehab for depression. Her brave and emotional speech has won her praise from many quarters. Among those who congratulated her for speaking out was Lady Gaga who spoke of her admiration of Selena’s bravery. It is not the first time that the singer has spent time in rehab. She previously went in after she was diagnosed with lupus. But a source clarified that the latest stint was as a result of mental issues.
Her statement to PEOPLE confirmed as much. In the statement she said that her anxiety and depression were as a result of lupus.
Selena who has dated Justin Bieber previously was forced to cancel part of her Revival tour in order to deal with depression and anxiety both of which are related to lupus. She joined a woman’s only facility near Nashville and completed the program earlier in November.
She attributed some of her health issues to trying too hard to make everyone happy. Speaking about social media, she said she no longer cares for that kind of validation.
The songstress looked stunning as she arrived in her scarlet Prada gown. She was probably pleased that Justin was not at the ceremony as he is currently on his Purpose tour. His performance was beamed via satellite.Read More
